Cured fish never goes bad, this allows you to build up a supply of food. Only cook the fish when you plan on eating it right away, use salt to cure fish (preferably Peepers or Reginalds). Peepers are pretty much the best food fish you can find early on (Reginalds are best food fish period), Bladderfish is for making water, do not eat Bladderfish, that's a waste, just turn them to water in the fabricator. You don't need a knife to get food fish, you can just grab them alive and store them alive in any storage. Hitting resource deposits with bare hands need 3 hits, using any tool to hit them reduces this to 1 hit. You swim double as fast on the water surface.īrain corals (purple round ones, they look like brains, duh!) create air bubbles (in bursts of three), you can hover above them and collect the air bubbles to fill up your oxygen supply without having to surface. You swim faster without holding anything in your hands, make liberal use of holstering your tools.
There's a small storage compartment in your starting pod with some useful items inside it, it's below the panel with the pod status/power cells.
